This series of "mini wallpapers" are the result of an ongoing investigation into ideas of home, security, the uncanny, and gothic narrative. They began as durational installations, where the wallpapers would be painted to scale directly onto the gallery wall and then painted over at the end of the exhibition, never to be seen again. This new manifestation has moved away from these ideas of labour and temporality and toward a playful exploration of pop-culture and surrealism. If purchasing, these mini wallpapers can be commissioned to match or compliment particular wall colours.

Marijke Bouchier is an illustrator and interdisciplinary artist, originally from New Zealand, now based in Toronto, Ontario.
